Albumasar was a noted ninth century Baghdad astrologer. His book was used in the Middle Ages as the most important source for information on the ebb an flow of tides and the effect of the moon on tides. Erhard Ratdolt, ca. 1477-ca. 1527, was the earliest printer to specialize in secular books, chiefly astronomy, astrology and mathematics. He was the first to print Albumasar's manuscript.
